As musicians and vocalists, Nel and Rahmat are naturally also part of the seven-piece ensemble “THE SWOON”, SKC's energetic backing band with whom he released the acclaimed album “Be(e) Who You Wanna Be(e)” in 2024, surprising the press and public with rousing, funky and colourful live shows.

But that doesn't mean SKC has lost his love for narrative songs. For THE POEM's tour and album, he is bringing new work and, together with the ladies, reworking songs from his own extensive repertoire and gems from the inexhaustible treasure trove of songs from the longest-running singer-songwriter tradition, in which the boundaries between poetry, literature and (pop) music are almost blurred.

The songs are carried by three unique and diverse voices. SKC's husky tenor has become a recognisable sound in the Belgian music landscape and is flanked by the velvety alto of Nel Ponsaers and the soulful soprano of Rahmat Emonds. The name of the band is a combination of the first two letters of the singers' surnames.

SKC's great love for instruments comes to the fore in every musical adventure he embarks on. So this time too, he is travelling with a selection of special guitars, basses, organs, analogue synths and striking automated percussion. The music of SKC & THE POEM is refined, minimalist, reduced to its essence, but full of feeling and adventure.
