Chantal Acda's impressive and versatile international career will add another beautiful chapter on 19 September 2025 with the release of her new album, “The Whale”.

2024 marked a shift in Chantal Acda's approach to writing music. She decided to make a new album in collaboration with the band she has been touring with for over ten years as the Chantal Acda Band: Eric Thielemans, Alan Gevaert, Gaëtan Vandewoude and Niels Van Heertum; musicians who know and trust each other through and through. Where she used to be the sole writer, she now wanted the music to reflect the sensibilities and instincts of each member; a true collaborative effort.

‘For the first time, the lyrics are inspired by stories that are not my own. They are universal, but connected to the stories I have received from the band members. It's like a book we all wrote together,’ says Chantal.

The sound of “The Whale” is rougher and more rock-oriented than Chantal's previous projects, but her characteristic sense of introspection and fragility is never lost sight of.

The new album is produced by Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts) and will be released on 19 September 2025.

Singles such as ‘Heads’ and ‘Make It Work’ have been included in playlists of national radio stations in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, etc. The German edition of Rolling Stone selected ‘Heads’ for the CD distributed with the September edition of its magazine.
